Fashion and accessories from the acclaimed fashion journalist to go under the hammer on 25 June
One of the highlights of Roseberys’ June quarterly fine art auction will be “The Suzy Menkes Collection”, designer fashion and accessories from the personal wardrobe of the acclaimed fashion journalist Suzy Menkes.  The auction will include clothes, bags and accessories.  Suzy Menkes has been the fashion critic for the International Herald Tribune for 25 years and has recently been appointed international Vogue editor.


Roseberys’ fashion expert, Richard Gibbon, says, “Suzy has been at the heart of the fashion business for her entire career and this collection features garments which exemplify the styles of the times from the 1960s right through to the 2000s.  From Bill Gibb, Biba and Ozzie Clark to Janice Wainwright, Chanel, Yves St Laurent to English Eccentrics and Christian Lacroix, many of the brightest and best designers of their times are featured in this exciting collection.”
Estimates for lots in the auction range from £80-£500.


A tomato red trouser suit, 1960s. The cut velvet flared trousers with gilt button detail, together with a sleeveless long line jacket with gilt button and chain clasp. Unlabeled. Part of a collection. Estimate £120-£180


Ossie Clark for Radley, 1970s. A smock-backed tea dress of violet moss crepe with deep button decollete and wrapped belt to the waist. Size 36. Estimate £200-£300
A flapper style beaded crepe cocktail dress, 1970s, the black crepe sleeveless dress with shaped hem and silvered glass and clear bugle bead embellishment. Unlabeled. Estimate £100-£150
Chanel: A black quilted lambskin handbag with plaited leather and chain shoulder strap. 1980s, together with a Chanel silk scarf, double C logo on purple ground, decorated with jewellery imagery. Estimate £250-£350


The auction takes place at 10am on Wednesday 25 June at Roseberys, The Old Chocolate Factory, 74-76 Knights Hill, London, SE27 0JD.  The auction catalogue will be online at www.roseberys.co.uk prior to the auction.


Viewing is 1-5pm on Friday 20 June, 10am-3pm on Sunday 22 June, 9.30am-5.30pm on Monday 23 June and on the morning of the sale from 9am-9.45am.
