The Valuations department at Roseberys is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Valuations Manager to join their successful London-based auction house. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team responsible for the assessment and valuation of a wide range of fine art, antiques, jewellery, and other luxury items. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of the auction industry, exceptional client-facing skills, and the ability to manage multiple valuation projects simultaneously.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Support the Head of Valuations by coordinating visits, proposals, strategy, and client communications on multiple valuations projects, and work cross departmentally within the auction house.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as the primary point of contact within the department and overseeing logistics with regards to client property.
  • Stay up-to-date with global auction markets, art and collectibles trends, and competitor activity. Provide insights on upcoming trends and valuable investment opportunities to clients, and undertake analysis of sales data to promote the growth of the department.
  • Identify new business opportunities, generate leads, and support the development of the auction house’s client base, increasing revenue by introducing new efficiencies into existing procedures.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate written valuation reports for clients, ensuring all relevant market data, provenance information, and condition reports are included. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with marketing and promotional activities related to valuations and auctions as and when required.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in business development within the auction industry, fine art, antiques, or a related field. Experience in conducting valuations, appraisals, and building client relationships is essential.
  • Experience in the preparation of contracts and other legal documents with a high aptitude for administrations and a good knowledge of and experience with shipping and personnel management.
  • Strong knowledge of specific market sectors such as fine art, rare objects, jewellery, or antiques. Expertise in the valuation of art and collectibles is highly desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex valuation concepts to clients in an accessible manner. Strong negotiation skills to support consignment discussions.
  • Proven experience in managing and mentoring a team. Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects while supporting a collaborative team environment.
  • A degree in art history, fine arts, or a related field is preferred. Further qualifications from industry-recognised organisations (e.g., RICS) are advantageous.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy and precision under pressure. Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Comfortable using auction management software, databases, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with valuation software is a plus.

This is a full-time role, Monday-Friday 9-5.30pm.
