Asian Arts Department: Administrator, Sale Co-ordinator & Junior Cataloguer

Roseberys are seeking a diligent, enthusiastic and passionate person to join our Asian Arts Department team as an Administrator, Sale Co-ordinator & Junior Cataloguer. This is a full-time position and based in-house within the auction rooms. This is a busy and hands on role and the perfect candidate would have a proven passion for Asian Arts and a desire to increase their knowledge within this field.

Overview:

This position is to provide support to the Head of Department in all aspects of the consignment, cataloguing and auction process to enable the continued growth and success of the department.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Producing valuation reports and receipts
  • Corresponding with clients pre and post-sale
  • Arranging delivery and collection of items
  • Co-ordinating with other auction houses about transfers and valuations
  • Providing assistance and support to the head of department as required
  • Assisting with catalogue production: co-ordinating with the photographer to ensure all images are done and correct, liaising with head of department and assisting with deadline checks and assisting to ensure deadlines are met
  • Writing catalogue descriptions, notes, undertaking research where required
  • Assisting with condition report requests
  • Assisting with auction enquiries
  • Receiving deliveries, unpacking, receipting and checking off, moving to relevant storage areas and ensuring safe storage of goods
  • Management of storage areas
  • Removing items from storage for auctions
  • Setting up the auction; liaising with the head of department about star lots
  • Organising preview events
  • Viewing and auction day duties
  • Assisting with re-entries and returns
  • Dealing with collections

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree within the field of Asian Arts preferred
  • A proven interest within the field of Asian Arts
  • Mandarin as a language skilled preferred
  • Ability to maintain composure in a stressful environment and meet deadlines
  • Driven with a positive and can-do attitude
  • Manual handling experience
  • An all-round team player who is happy to contribute to assist and enable the success of the department wherever required
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

This is a full-time role, Monday-Friday 9-5.30pm with some weekend work required for auctions and viewings.
