Description
Robert Race, b. 1943, Its a Ducks Life, a hand-wound automaton, wood, driftwood, coloured wood, wire rod, feather, 32cm high, 57cm wide, 10cm deep
Sir Nicholas Goodison noted: The ducks, or rather duck and five ducklings, sway from side to side as if waddling forward. The duckling below revolves while a lever presses on a plastic quacking concertina set in the base. Three of the ducklings appear to have lost the feathers from their tails. Perhaps the fox nearly got them.
