Provenance:

Saatchi & Saatchi, London
Literature:
Alistair Hicks, 'New British Art in the Saatchi Collection', Thames and Hudson, London, 1989, p.147
Note:
The collection also features works from the 1980s by important British artists of the era, including Julian Opie, Stephen Buckley, Grenville Davey and Bill Woodrow. Woodrow and Opie were central figures associated with the so-called ‘New British Sculpture’ of the 1980s.
The 4 early works for sale by Opie employ industrial processes and materials to create coolly abstract works that play on domestic forms, from car bonnets to industrial fridges, but removed from their functional use. Many of these works were featured in an important early touring museum show of the artist’s work at the Hayward Gallery, London and the Kunstverein, Hanover, that ran from 1993-1994.
