Lot 504

Description

Albert Williams,
British 1922-2010-

Still life with tufted bluebells and yellow camellias in a vase;

oil on canvas, signed 'Albert Williams' (lower right), 36 x 41 cm. ARR.

Provenance:
Private Collection, UK.

Note:
Williams studied under Louis Ginnett (1875-1946) at the Brighton College of Art, and was clearly influenced by the artist's realism, and the quiet stillness of his compositions. The present work is typical of Williams' abundant and colourful floral still lifes, which are highly reminiscent of the paintings of Dutch artists from earlier generations, such as Gerard van Spaendonck (1746-1822).
