Description
European Watch Company with Cartier France dial. A two colour gold back winding bangle watch
Duoplan, Circa 1940
17 jewel back winding manual wind duo-plan movement, rectangular cream coloured dial signed Cartier, France, with blued steel hands, ribbed two tone heavy hinged bangle with French Assay marks, with retractable spring opening mechanism to the front, dial signed Cartier, movement signed European Watch Company
Diameter 11.5mm
Provenance: the Estate of Jill and Michael Barrington
This watch initially looks like it might be a 'Coullisant' model whereby the sliding front covers the dial, however in this case the sliding front acts just as a sliding lock for the bangle rather than a cover.
A very similar watch was sold in Christie's New York, 8th June 2011
Please note that Roseberys do not guarantee working order or time keeping of any automatic, mechanical, quartz or other timepiece
