A similar work from this series is exhibited in the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.
Barns-Graham was an important figure in British Modernism, moving to St Ives in 1940 after studying at Edinburgh College of Arts and joining the group that included Ben Nicholson, Barbara Hepworth and Naum Gabo. Since her death in 2004, numerous solo exhibitions have been conducted posthumously. These include Wilhelmina Barns-Graham: From St Andrews to St Ives, hosted in 2016 which coincided with a major survey of Barns-Graham's work at Penlee House Gallery & Museum.
