Basil Coleman was a director and producer who worked closely with Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears for many decades. He this began when he directed the first production of Britten's work for children 'Let's Make an Opera' (1949), at Aldeburgh. Potter lived at the Red House, Aldeburgh until 1957, when she swapped houses with her friends Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears, who lived overlooking the sea at Crag House from 1947.
