British 1818-1875-
Two seascapes: Shipping off the coast with sailing boats on stormy seas; and A harbour scene with figures on a boat on the beach;

Note:
John James Wilson was a highly prolific artist, exhibiting more than 600 paintings over the course of his career. He was the son of fellow marine artist John H. Wilson (1774-1855), and was clearly heavily influenced by the latter's approach, with both artists often depicting seascapes off the English Channel, undoubtedly informed by the view from Folkestone where John James Wilson moved with his father in 1853.
