Ian is the founder and owner of Roseberys. His career started with Phillips in Edinburgh in 1979 and he moved with them to Chester before he was then appointed manager of Sotheby’s Valuation Department. He established Roseberys in London in 1987 and has continued to grow and expand the company evolving the business from a traditional auction room to the current specialist fine art auction business.

As an auctioneer he has conducted the sale of many valuable collections and has sold a number of esteemed lots. These include the sale of an English Delft blue-dash royal portrait restoration charger of Charles II, c.1660, which sold for £130,000. Furthermore, the rare work by Leon Bakst depicting the artist and founder of the Ballet Russes Serge Diaghilev bathing at the Lido in Venice, which sold for £540,000

Ian having had 40 years’ experience within the industry has developed a breadth of experience in many areas.  He is an Associate and committee member of SOFAA, the Society of Fine Art Auctioneers and Valuers.
