Modern British & 20th Century Art Part I
Tuesday 25 March 2025 10:00
The auction will feature private collections, new discoveries and important works from across the globe. Perhaps most exciting are the two recently attributed works by Isabel Rawsthorne, an artist best known for her long association with Francis Bacon. Following successful sales last year, we will also have works from Pyms Gallery, alongside works from the collection of Professor W. M. Ballantyne (1922-2021), which includes a seminal landscape by Philip Wilson Steer. Other individual highlights include important pieces by Keith Vaughan, Paule Vézelay, Duncan Grant and pioneering Nigerian modernist Uche Okeke.
Running alongside the sale on Wednesday 26th March will be ‘French Naturalist Painters from a Private European Collection’. Previously exhibited with The Fleming Collection in 2012 and held in the same collection for many decades, this features beautiful works by painters including Willy Eisenschitz, Ginès Parra and Gaston Balande.
