In a celebration of history and refined elegance, Roseberys proudly presents its third Jewellery auction of the year, scheduled for Tuesday, September 26. This event showcases a collection of 352 lots, each being a testament to the artistry and sophistication of eras long past.

Lot 235: Cartier. A diamond set 'Love' ring

Among the treasures awaiting discerning collectors are unique historical pieces, and a carefully curated selection of rare jewels from the enchanting Belle Époque period. The strong watch section, features an exquisite assortment of 18th and early 19th-century pocket watches, each bearing witness to the excellent craftsmanship of its era

Lot 84: Justin Vulliamy, London. A rare gold key wind pair case

Leading the fantastic section of 18th and 19th century pocket watches is lot 84, a rare gold quarter repeating pair case pocket watch by Justin Vulliamy. Vulliamy was Clockmaker to George II from 1764, inheriting the Royal Warant from his father-in-law. This pocket watch is a lovely example of his work, and features one of his famously cryptic numbering codes. The watch is a quarter repeater – a watch that strikes at the quarter hours on the push of a button, and this type of complication originated in the ages before the invention of artificial light, to allow the time to be read in the dark.

Lot 347: An early 19th century diamond and emerald five stone ring

Lot 347 is a charming early 19th century diamond and emerald five stone ring, dating to around 1820. In that period, artisan cutters would shape each diamond by hand, so each stone was one of a kind and no two same were the same. The stones were cut to look their best in the warm candlelight of the day, and stones from this period are not often seen in their original mounting, as subsequent generations would often reset the diamonds and gemstones in line with changing fashions and tastes.

Lot 327: An early 20th century diamond and sapphire jabot pin

Lot 325: An Art Deco platinum sapphire bracelet

Another highlight and a department pick is lot 327. This fine Art Deco masterpiece is both wearable and of classical. The jabot pin, with its origins dating back to the mid-17th century, was originally used to secure ruffled lace on shirt fronts. However, it surged in popularity during the glamorous 1920s and 30s when it graced dresses as a fashion statement.

Lot 339: Coven-Lacloche. A Belle Époque platinum, sapphire

The auction also features lot 339, a lady's platinum, sapphire, diamond, and seed pearl bracelet watch, crafted during the early 1900s by Coven Lachloche. This charming timepiece showcases the artistry of the Lachloche Freres family business, known for its exceptional craftsmanship.

Lot 351: A Belle Époque platinum, diamond and pearl hair clip

Also from the Belle Époque era is lot 351, a platinum, diamond, and pearl hair clip, which is engraved 'G. T. Van Norden 1919' and was possibly once owned by the American socialite Grace Talcott Van Norden (1873-1957), wife of Warner Montagnie Van Norden.
