Roseberys’ Old Master, British and European Pictures auction features over 470 hand-selected lots and is a true celebration of the variety of the category. The sale is led by the Collection of the late Hugo Morley-Fletcher and features – amongst others – some important and finely executed early portraits by Adam de Colone, David Scougall, the Studio of Sir Peter Lely, and Jacob Huysmans.

Further exciting collections include those of the late Professor Ballantyne, the late Peter and Ann Mactaggart, and the late Mary and Alan Hobart.

The auction features an impressive offering of early religious works including a new discovery in the oeuvre of Luigi Garzi, a charming ‘bozzetta’ by Carlo Innocenzo Carlone, and an oil on copper by Paolo Farinati which has never been seen on the market before.

Roseberys is also pleased to be showcasing to the market fantastic paintings by a suite of important 18th- and 19th-century artists including Henry Bone, Alexander Nasmyth, George Dawe, Jan Portielje, Sir John Lavery, Emile Cambiaggio, Alexandre Benois, and Paul-Emile Bécat. The sale is further enriched by strong works on paper, including a highly important portrait sketch of the young Felix Mendelssohn by Carl Joseph Begas and a fine array of Old Master Prints from the esteemed collection of the late Professor Eric G. Stanley.
