This sale comprises over two hundred lots of silver holloware and flatware dating from the Stuart period to the 21st century. The carefully curated offering includes a private collection of silver from the estate of the late David Cornwell - best known as the author John le Carré - as well as a wide selection of European, Chinese, Russian, American and Indian silverware. The selection features pieces by some of the most sought-after silversmiths and luxury brands, including Joseph Carl Klinkosch, Edward Farrell, Benjamin Smith II & James Smith III, the Barnard Brothers, Sampson Mordan, Cartier, Bulgari, Odiot and Garrard & Co. Highlights include an impressive sculpture of the champion racehorse Frankel by the acclaimed equestrian sculptor Charlie Langton, a novelty Victorian silver table bell in the form of a tortoise, and a pair of William III columnar silver candlesticks.
