Silver
Wednesday 26 June 2024 10:00
This month’s Silver auction is our largest to date, with over 330 lots of British, European, Latin American, Ottoman, Chinese, Russian and American silver and gold. The sale has been carefully curated to bring to market a wide selection of holloware and flatware spanning four decades from the early 18th century to the present day. It includes pieces by the very best makers and luxury houses including Tiffany & Co., Cartier, Georg Jensen and Gustave Keller, as well as works by interesting provincial makers such as Carden Terry & Jane Williams (Cork) and Joseph Pearson (Dumfries). Highlights include a pair of limited edition 9ct gold brandy goblets, a George II tankard, a pair of George III sauce tureens by Andrew Fogelberg & Stephen Gilbert, and a set of four ‘Galleon’ menu card holders by Omar Ramsden. There are also a number of interesting lots from beyond British shores, not least a 19th century French silver entrée dish by Gustave Keller, applied with the arms of Demidov; a Nicholas II cloisonné enamelled Russian silver beaker by the firm of Ovchinnikov; and an unusual 19th century Mexican silver ‘pebetero’ or incense burner.
