Roseberys' March Silver auction comprises over three hundred lots of British, European, Russian, Chinese, South East Asian and Indian silver, including rare and collectable pieces rarely seen on the market. Roseberys is delighted to offer a fantastic group of silverware from a UK private collection, which features fine works by important makers including Paul Storr, Wakelin & Taylor, George Fox and Edward Barnard & Sons. Highlights of the sale include a large George II silver salver by the renowned Huguenot silversmith, Augustine Courtauld, a pair of Charles II silver toilet boxes, an impressive pair of Art Nouveau candelabra and an extensive group of 1920s silver flatware.
The sale includes a number of items with interesting historical associations, including pieces connected to Lord Byron, Admiral Nelson, the 5th Earl of Carlisle and Jane Austen, in addition to interesting provincial silverware from Britain and beyond, including France (Perpignan), Scotland (Greenock and Aberdeen), England (Newcastle, Exeter and York) and Burma.
Collectors of spoons, small collectables and novelties can choose from an array of interesting objects including castle top snuff boxes and vinaigrettes, novelty cruets and sugar nips, wine labels and 17th and 18th century spoons.
